10 Ways to Move your Body Today

Updated: Oct 14, 2022

1- WALK- Go for a walk in your neighborhood, around the lake, or inside the mall.

Walking for at least 30 minutes per day, with different inclines and speeds will certainly get your heart rate up and build your cardiovascular endurance.

2- Ride your Bike- Dust off those cobwebs, air up those tires and get out into your neighborhood for a morning ride.

Many large metropolitan cities actually have bikes for rent in the Downtown area for a low cost.

3- Play Basketball - Shoot hoops at your local city park.

You don’t have to be the Steph Curry MVP from the Golden State Warriors or Jonquel Jones MVP from the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun ; just get out there and shoot around. Play a round of HORSE with a friend or with your kids. All you need is a ball full of air.

4- Dance - Call up a friend or drag your spouse to a class in the city. Try Swing Out, Salsa, or Country line dancing. Many businesses offer the 1st class for free.

5- Skate- You heard me right, skating has made a come back! Lace up, put on those knee & elbow pads, and have some fun. Skating rinks admission prices are still cheaper than your complicated Starbucks coffee order.

6- Swim - It is still SUMMER. So while you still have time, get into that water! Whether you are at the local YMCA or at the lake; remember to be safe. Wear proper fitting life jackets and sunscreen.

7- Do Yardwork. Mow the lawn, clean out the garage or finally cut down that shrub that is blocking your beautiful window view. Better yet, find someone in your neighborhood that is unable to do yardwork and go lend a helping hand. This could be 90 year old Mrs. Clara, a very pregnant Mom friend, or the homie at church who is in a foot cast.

8- Walk your Dog or walk to the store to pick up a small amount of groceries. Carrying the groceries will certainly wake up your arms.

9- JUMP- Take the kids to the Trampoline Park and join them in the fun. You’d be surprised how much you have to engage your core to maintain staying upright.

10- Practice YOGA- Take a class, join in on yoga in the park or simply spread your mat in the backyard for a relaxing session under the sky. Bring your favorite oil to breathe in.
